In a Nutshell
A picturesque natural harbour, bordered by traditional cottages, cafes and museums. A great place to walk around the coastline and take in the views, then grab a snack and soak up the tranquil atmosphere. Parking and Pooping
Boscastle lies on the North Cornwall coast, a few miles north of Tintagel. Take the A39 that runs north/south along the coastline and follow the B roads into the village. You'll wind your way down into the harbour and find parking alongside the river on the B3263. There are public toilets at the car park, but don't worry about pup as there is plenty of grass along the riverside as you walk down to the harbour. Walkies
You'll spend most of your time around the river, harbour and coastline here, so walking is pretty easy and mostly on roads that are little used other than access to the harbour buildings. As such the paths/roads are wide and fringed with grass along the riverside. Walk down from the car park, past the small arcade of shops, and you are in to the harbour walk. Follow this down and you have a choice of walking to the harbour walls, or up the sides of the hillside to take the coastal paths. On either side of the river, as it merges into the harbour you can walk down the slipways and pup can take a paddle in the shallow river. |
Keeping the Humans Amused
There are small selection of gift, curio and clothes shops, but you're not really here for the shopping. Boscastle is more about the coastline and the natural beauty of the harbour. Much of the area is now owned by the National Trust, so you'll find the NT cafe (dog friendly), shop and the Museum of Witchcraft! Take the time though to wonder down to the harbour walls and up the hillside on the right hand side of the harbour to get some great views of the coastline and see the blow hole in action too. Chow Time
The National Trust tea room down by the harbour is dog friendly. Most of the pubs here seem to be dog friendly too and even the The Riverside Hotel by the bridge allows dogs in the front dining room. The Wellington Hotel, Napoleon and Cobweb pubs are also listed as dog friendly, so plenty of choice! More Info
