In a Nutshell
Country walks and retail therapy amongst the Evesham apple yards. Parking and Pooping
The Valley (formerly the Evesham Country Park) lies at the junction of the A46 and A44 just north of Evesham town. It has plentiful free car parking with grass areas close by and public toilets within the shopping complex and garden centre. Walkies
The main courtyard of shops is pedestrianised and there are benches scattered about if you want to sit with pup while others browse the shops. The shops themselves are not dog friendly. Walk up passed the light railway train station and you'll find access to the country park element of the site. Here you'll find 130 acres of estate land. Much of this is heavily wooded, with narrow paths but there is over a mile of walks along the River Avon to make sure pup is ready to crash whilst you browse the shops. Cross over the railway tracks and you can make the easier walk across the field to the raised picnic site in the loop of the railway line by the 2nd station. It seems to be little used and has good views across the valley. |
Keeping the Humans Amused
The retail section of the site is based around the garden centre and attached restaurant, with a single courtyard of outlets ranging from clothing, footwear, farm produce, jewellery and crafts. In recent years the retail units have been extended, with a mix of clothing, outdoor and accessory shops, including a great dog friendly pet shop. On the way to the country park, you'll find the Evesham Light Railway, a small narrow gauge steam railway that takes visitors on round trips of the estate, stopping off near the riverside. Chow Time
There is the Applebarn Restaurant attached to the garden centre, which has direct access to the outdoor seating areas from the main courtyard. It's a pleasant place to sit, enjoy a cream tea and can be quite a sun-trap. Water bowls for pup are normally available and Bella gets loss of fuss from the staff here. |
